I've been using Brita filtered pitcher water for espresso for years. I read about the various water formulas people use in their espresso machines and was curious to try one of these. I am mainly interested in this for taste reasons, not longevity. I just tried Third Wave, which seems like a popular choice here. However, I'm not tasting an improvement. If anything, the espresso is more sour now. I double-checked the directions, 1 packet per gallon of distilled, well shaken. Not sure what else to try, but headed back to regular filter water.
