I removed my shower head and gasket to clean last weekend and scraped the sides of it with the flat head screwdriver. I was wondering if anyone had a technique to use to remove with out damaging it further. I have a ECM/Rocket E61 grouphead. Thanks

use some food grade silicone grease on the gasket and groove
and remove them more often
this will prevent the gasket to bake in the grouphead

The forum search tips are you friends. See How to remove the dispersion screen and gasket of an E61? There's also this bounty of information:

I've always used a spoon. Even my Bezzera's screen that I must have removed at least 100 times while trying to fix a group gasket problem is still fine, and it has a spot welded ring around the edge (easy to bend) you have to pry on.

Once you get it out, this is the best advice.
It also lets you wipe the inside of the screen and the dispersion screw of accumulating oil that a detergent backflush doesn't quite get. I do this once or twice a week.
Trust your taste. Don't trust your perception.

Who cares? A scratch doesn't affect the shot 1 iotajavacrazed wrote:I removed my shower head and gasket to clean last weekend and scraped the sides of it with the flat head screwdriver.

Keying your car doesn't change the way it drives, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't take steps to avoid it.

I also use a spoon but the handle end as shown above
If you don't want to scratch anything just use a cloth to go between the 2 metal surface contact points
Its not rocket science just common sense

Um, it's more like a mark on the inside of a wheel well from road debris: Unless you haul your car about in a trailer, it's gonna happen.Bob_McBob wrote:Keying your car doesn't change the way it drives, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't take steps to avoid it.
