Steam Technique Distribution.
Purged the steam wand of excess moisture and stuck the wand into my dosing cup of beans and very lightly turned on the steam for a half-full second.
Kinda worked good!
It goes against my grain for whatever reason to spritz and shake.

Been doing this for years on my dual boiler machines. On my other machines I still use a cheap spritzer.

BTW, I RDT/STD for all my grinders. Not just the Monolith Max, (which actually comes with a spritzer bottle).

So I'm not number one??
I'm the opposite of anal. So there were three things I swore I'd never do as far as espresso goes.
Spritz
Swirl needles around in the ground coffee in the portafilter
And put a stop watch on the pull.

So far I haven't timed a shot.

'Fraid not. But nor am I. I "stole" the idea off someone else myself. :) Can't remember if it was someone here, or someone at CG. Hmmm...

Still, you had no way of knowing. And thinking outside the box is very useful in this constantly evolving space, where people are always looking for an "end-all" machine or grinder or this or that. It breeds stagnation. So good on you for bringing it up. And keep pursuing original thought. It is much appreciated.
