Currently have IMS 18g Basket, but thinking to do single shot (9g).
Wondering if anyone had done any experimentation on it?
Other than messy puck, is there any shot quality loss on that?

Thanks in advance for chiming in!

Probably not worth the head ache. It would require a Turkish grind, and the overextraction will get a blah tasting shot (in addition, all the water in the headspace is going to be diluting the coffee some).

BTW, my go to favorite basket is the IMS stepped cylinder single, which works great from 6 to 9 grams (you'll need a 42mm, LM single basket sized tamper).

Thanks so much for this! Never thought of all the repercussion. Will look into the 42mm setup. Did saw some IMS Single Basket that looks quite different. Will dig deeper :)
