I'm using a VST Ridged 18gm basket and would like opinions as to what size devices would be best, 58mm or 58.4mm. I realize that the Mahlgut 'Dozer' only comes in 58.4mm.

Other questions I'm pondering are how the Mahlgut Dozer compares to the ONA OCD. I understand the Mahlgut is infinitely adjustable as compared to the OCD that uses spacers; I was thinking more with regard to the shape and finish of the 'blade'.

As well, if using a dozer type tool, in addition to size, 58mm verses 58.4mm, which tampers might be best, flat or convex?

I would greatly appreciate hearing from those that have experience with these tools, especially if your experience is with both dozer types.

Do these tools really make a difference and if so how, in taste, ease of preparation, time to prepare, consistency or all of the above?

Thanks
