IMS BaristaPro "S24,5 269" -> SINGLE Perfection
- cafeIKE
I've been a single* aficionado since my first espresso... before "The White Album"
Until recently, they've been a PITA as every previous single basket evaluated require a grinder change for a proper shot.
NOT with this puppy! - at least relative to IMS double NS2T135 - Simply reduce the dose to ≈60% of the double and enjoy!
IMS marking BaristaPro "S24,5 269" Box sticker 1460026
I got it from Stefano @ site sponsor EspressCare. I didn't find the part on their website, so call or email to order.
* NOTE: A single is not a half-double... and they tend to be a bit messy in the puck department
I've only made singles on e61s for 15 years...

I have this basket and it's ok. It works very well with milk-based drinks. The reason it's easy to use, like many other conical single baskets, is that its holes are all centered. In contrast, straight-wall single baskets with a hole pattern that covers the entire area of the basket are more difficult to use, but at the same time provide more even extraction as water travels the same distance across all holes.
I recently got one of these after deciding to go easier on the caffeine for awhile - Not having to change the grind much, or get a new tamper and funnel far out ways the tradeoff in taste IMO. Love it.

IMO this basket has the best single to double taste complement to any single / double comparison I've ever tried.
My test of a great espresso is that I'm still enjoying it an hour later. Other single baskets barely make the 15-minute mark.
Add in No Grind Change Necessary, it's a runaway success.

Same beans and blend for single and double.
Multiple blends tested over several months.

I'm having a little trouble finding which IMS double basket is the "NST135" you're referring to. Is that the 18g barista pro precision basket?

I'm not absolutely sure about the designation. Probably not the Pro 18g.LVD wrote:Is that the 18g barista pro precision basket?
I got it as an eval and I've had it quite a while. I was told it was an IMS. It's not marked.
Its parameters match the NS2T135 on p24 in the IMS catalog and the micro hole pattern on p5

I just ordered one from Coffee Addicts in Calgary. It had the same designation as the one Ian bought.
