Penzeys Hot chocolate mix
Sugar
Natural cocoa power
Ceylon Cinnamon
Real Venera bean
A shot of espresso adds to it.
Great place to buy all your cooking spices as well

I searched on google but all I found was a cafeteria in Santa Venera.
What is a Venera Bean (a real one). Is it like Tonka bean?

Scraping away (slowly) at the tyranny of biases and dogma.

I use the same home-made sauce for both mochas and hot chocolate. M preference is for the least sweet chocolate. Can achieve without allowing th emitter note of cocoa to become dominant.
My recipe is 1.5 cups sugar, 1cup Ghirardelli cocoa powder, 5/8 cup water, 1teaspoon Vanilla.

Wow! Thanks chaps! Didn't expect such an extensive reply, lots of useful stuff there.
I'll definitely give the syrup a go if I can find any. I don't have a microwave but I'm sure I can figure out something to pre-heat it.
Thanks again.

Charbonnel et Walker.
Delicious.
No need to go to their Bond Street shop as Sainsbury's sell it too...

Sounds great. Amazon sells this in the US, but for rather more than what they want on Bond St, (sigh)keepitsimple wrote:Charbonnel et Walker.

Another good suggestion. Nice to see you back, Geoffrey.GC7 wrote:Penzeys Hot chocolate mix

It aint that cheap even in supermarkets here (£4.50/300 grams) but when you set that against what a coffee house charges for what they call a hot chocolate, it kinda gets it into perspective.earlgrey_44 wrote:Sounds great. My problem with it is that it's also delicious to eat by the spoonful...
Edit: I just checked the price on amazon.com - HOW MUCH ???? But then, I like Post/Great Grains Blueberry Morning cereal (yes, I know, but at least it isn't fruit loops) but the price to buy it here is ridiculous.

One trick for hot chocolate, whether you make it with Hershey's syrup or fine belgian chocolate - scald the milk a little with the steam. It's part of the flavor profile that most people who drink hot chocolate want. Also a pinch of salt.
