I've had the scale for a little over a year and it hasn't died yet. I rinse it under the sink and have spilled shots all over it with no problems. I use the fully manual mode, though, as the auto functions aren't too smart. Maybe I got a good one?

The thing is - a typical scale on Amazon (AWS, SmartWeigh, etc.), a timer, and a strip of packing tape over the scale buttons are a better solution for home barista usage at one-third the price. With the Brewista, one is paying for the auto features, and my feeling is that those features just don't work consistently enough. Admittedly, the lack of consistently would be less of an issue in a café environment, which is Brewista's target audience. If I was pulling shots all day long, then I would quickly get the muscle memory to put on/take off cups perfectly vertically, and the occasional auto failure wouldn't make much difference to the guest experience.

My experiences with Brewista's customer service has been great.
I'll chime as a person who does use them in a commercial environment and I have nothing but good things to say about them. I dont use them constantly all day for every shot though. I use them to dial in the shots through out the day using volumetrics and use them for every SO shot.

The only issue I have is with the automation features (using auto1).Sometimes when my shot is done and I take the cups off it doesn't take everything back to zero and the time just keeps running. I simply turn the scale off and back on and it resets.

I've been using two different ones for over a year with no issue. I even run them under water at the end of everyday to clean them. I don't soak them.... I simply run the top face under a little water and then dry with a towel. I hate that so many people seem to be having issues because I think they are providing a great product and I wouldn't hesitate to suggest someone buying one.

No reliability problems here. I've questioned the logic of the button placement from time to time as it's a little too easy to inadvertently switch between modes. Other than that minor complaint, it's a relatively fast scale, in terms of tare times. Since I use it for both for dosing and for weighing shots (and occasionally for brewing), I too use the Brewista in the fully manual mode. Even though I don't take advantage of any of the smart modes, I'm happy with the build quality at the price point. If I was assembling a dedicated travel kit from scratch, I'd probably use the Brewista scale since it is compact, ruggedized and has a hard case.
