Here's how I sped up the drum on my Behmor. No troubles in 40 roast cycles.
Same motor but the current is provided by a power supply from a 10 year old HP laptop. It's 19v and I think that the OEM input is 12v. It spins quite a bit faster now.
I pulled the plug from the motherboard and crimped some connectors that would jam into the plastic connector block. Electrical tape holds it secure. In theory, I can unwrap it and plug it back in for OEM function. CAREFUL - the wires are very small and easy to break at the connection to the motor. Nothing a soldering iron can't fix but if you are careful, it shouldn't be a problem.
