Just came across this company (http://www.kapokcoffee.com/index.php?page=products) and saw that the winner of the WCE roasting competition used one. Their website says they have a US dealer in CA and they will be getting more. Just wondering if anyone here has experience with Kapok. Cheers

Looks like a nice Diedrich clone with decent finishing. I'm at work now, but it will be neat to read more when I have time.

KapoK's are actually quite different from the Diedrich; I would not say they are clones.

The 1kg machine has some unique features, like the ability to keep constant temperature without complicated user input. Want to keep the roasting temperature/BMT during first crack at 203c? It can be done without user's input on the air flow or gas; ie, put the dial at 203c.

Even their 500g machine has build in bluetooth temperature capability for both bean mass and exhaust air, in addition to insulated body, and adjustable drum speed and exhaust air.

From what I heard, KapoK's are about twice the price of Yang Chia machines even in the local Taiwanese market.

My only point was, in my 5 second glance at it was it's general resemblance to the footprint and general layout of an IR/HR-1. But it sounds like that's where the similarities end. Still looks like impeccable finish detailing, like Diedrich too.

It would be awesome if someone who had one would share their thoughts of it.

I've been in contact with them, and they sent me a pricelist. I think they're quite expensive though. For their 1kg it's 11300 USD, and for their 5kg it's 25000 USD.
