I grabbed some Jamaica Blue Mountain https://royalcoffee.com/product/3427097000020558146/, and I'm looking for advice on roasting it. I typically roast 2 minutes after the first crack and 20 F higher than first crack.

My approach just as yours. Cup it. Might stretch it a bit more if more chocolates needed.

May I ask what 15kg JBM cost? Just curious. I have purchased 1lb from Burman long time ago. But did not find it to be worth the high price.

For my review of the IKAWA Home roaster, I roasted a Haitian Blue Mountain coffee as light as possible. This was wonderful as a light roast.
drgary wrote:I tried Haitian Blue Mountain greens and roasted them as light as possible with short development, using the IKAWA legacy filter recipe for Brazil Sitio Matinha Filter. This was a wonderful melding of roast profile and green, where the very low acidity of the coffee worked well when roasted for low density greens. Because the acidity is low, I pulled it as an espresso. It has a creamy, buttery mouthfeel and is extremely well-rounded. The sweetness/acidity balance is like very mild apricots.
Although it is not exactly the same coffee, here's an offering of the same plant as Jamaican Blue Mountain grown in Haiti. The cost is $13.25/lb. in low quantity.

I paid $27/lb. I've roasted coffee for many years and never had a JBM. To your point, it's probable the same with Geishas; I had a great geisha a few years ago, but these days I could only find average geishas. I hope this JBM is good enough so I don't regret my purchase. :D

Yeah, $27/lb is a good price for JBM. Considering the roasted JBM is selling for ~$60 and up, the price is a bargain. I think they run $30-$40/lb in smaller quantities from places like Burman or CBC. Mostly to satisfy my curiosity, I had to try roasting, JBM, Kona, and Panama Geisha even though the prices were ridiculously high. In the end, I concluded none were worth the price I paid.

The latest expensive greens I have purchased and roasted are from Nepal, Mout Everest Estate. With shipping cost, it ended up costing ~$50/lb. Good coffee, I liked it a lot, but not worth paying this much. Unless I can find it cheaper, I will not buy it again.

Anyone have any thoughts on Genuine Origin? Been eyeing this micro-lot Brazilian Natural..

FYI - greens are 15% off at showroom coffee currently. Some nice Ethiopians there too...

Showroom is an interesting place. Think they're the retail for CropToCup and a lot of other places sell CropToCup beans. I've found HappyMug to carry literally the same bean as Showroom for 30% less sometimes.

Worth to shop around by just googling the bean name directly and looking for other places.
