And Sumatra's are so easy to roast. Something about them our machine likes. Very predictable. Beans always look a bit mottled but taste great.

Speaking of Sumatras....
Sweet Maria's now offering a Honey Process version of the Sumatra Kerinci Pendekar:
https://www.sweetmarias.com/sumatra-hon ... -7372.html
I loved the Dry Process version of the Kerinci Pendekar with its chocolate covered raisin profile (reminds me of a Chunky Bar). This honey process version however, promises to be quite different judging by the tasting notes:
"Unrefined sugar flavors like rustic coconut palm sugar, barley malt, and a medicinal honey flavor that also marks the aroma. City+ roasts highlight a brighter cup character (especially for Sumatra), with something like orange oil offering a bittering-bright contrast to the sweetness, and connecting to lighter roast cacao nib bittering in the aftertaste. We also picked up on some slight fruited hints of apple butter spread, and red raisin, with fresh thyme marking the cup aroma".

We basically only drink espresso drinks so why would one buy a Gesha? Accidentally of course.
Not inexpensive coffee.
Costa Rica Tres Milagros Santuario Project Gesha Anaerobic Raisin Honey $16.61 lb.
More accidents - that first cup you know when you haven't had any caffeine. I had measured a dose of this for me and then botched my wife's normal blend and gave it for her. Then I made myself one. We both loved it.
Caveat - while not the flavor descriptors described below, with nice microfoam this was a milk chocolate bomb as a cappuccino or Cortado.
Caveat 2 - see my roasting outcome - Light on the roast vision scale.
I have been a big fan of Hacea, and appreciate the support they have given Artisan where other name green sellers have not. Remember your first order has free shipping so factor that in. I have tried quite a few of their coffees and they do a great job.

Here's to more joyous accidents like this! Appreciate the review as this is one of several Hacea offerings that has caught my attention. Being a chocolate lover who drinks coffee with milk, this sounds like a perfect fit.CarefreeBuzzBuzz wrote:Accidental Joy -

I am also considering their heirloom Ethiopian anaerobic raisin honey coffee:

Fruity pebbles..who can resist?
Joking aside I enjoy coffees made from 'transplanted varieties' so to speak. Nice to observe how a change of location and cultivation techniques translates in the cup.

A second recommendation for the Panama Elida Catuai Natural from Roastmasters:
https://www.roastmasters.com/elidanat.html
Full of raspberry sweetness contrasting against literally mouth puckering tart raspberry citric notes. Hints of semi sweet chocolate even at my lighter roasts, becoming more prominant closer to Full City level roasts along with the addition of hints of blueberries. I suspect profile will become jammy and fudge like with darker roasts.
This year's crop seems to have more raspberry type fruits as opposed to the more typical blueberry forward profile. Blueberries are there but emerge at darker roasts whereas raspberries are the main player at lighter roasts with an emphasis on tartness as well as sweetness. Would love to hear from anyone who has some of the prior crop(s) available for comparison - since I am going off memory here.
The sort of coffee that should be consumed solo because it has the tendancy to show up other naturals, such is its quality and complexity
Very complex fruit flavors with profound depth, able to hold its own even when cupped alongside anaerobic naturals.

Sweet Maria's - Guatemala Xinabajul Aurelio Del Cerro

Pulled the trigger on 30lbs of this not long after seeing the listing. Been in the market for a larger quantity (for me) of something versatile, crowd pleaser, and everyday drinker, and this checks the boxes. Thought about ordering a 50lb thru Coffee Shrub but I think that's a lot for me at this point

I'm finally running towards the end of the 40lb order of the Costa Rica Tarrazu Cafetales de Dota. Let us know how it is in the medium roast range for spro in milk based drinks

The Guatemala Chq'Ul Sauco is a very good medium to medium-light coffee. The grape description is quite subdued but an excellent undertone for the chocolates.
This one is also great. I have a friend currently drinking it and loves it. I took it to a medium-light and it brought out a very pleasant dark chocolate bittering note in the aftertaste that we both really enjoyed. (I'm a sucker for 60% cocoa bakers chocolates as a snack...) Very clean and easy to roast. It is a lighter feeling coffee than the Chq'Ul.
