@mpdeen, thanks for the pointer - I ordered some of Captain's Sugar Cane Colombian to try. I, too, don't enjoy the old decaf methods so hoping this is better. Thanks!

Crown Jewel Decaf Mexico Oaxaca Sugarcane Process CJ1517

I finally made an espresso with this. Still in stock. I could drink this every day it was so good. Lot's of crema. I usually make a "mostly decaf" blend with about 80% decaf, but I think I will drink this straight.

Can't beat the price either.

A fabulous EA decaf from Captain's Coffee
Mexico Oaxaca Esmeralda EA Sugar Cane Decaf - Brown sugar, unsweetened coco, creamy orange almond nougat candy, raw sugar over tart sweet orange rind. Almond orange reminds me of orange infused Ferrara nougat candy - sweet but not overly so with a lovely rich nut creamy quality. I actually found this decaf more compelling than most caffeinated Mexican coffees tasted in the past. Ended up ordering 5 lbs as I could easily drink this every day.

Thanks for sharing your impressions and roast profile. Sounds right up my alley going off Crown's tasting notes...too bad they are out of stock.

Anyone drinking a decaf they love right now, especially EA process and for espresso?

BTW the Mexican from Captains linked above has different tasting notes on the Royal website - chocolate and raisin. I don't like raisins in my coffee. Mary I trust your review though.

And to talk about rising prices in April 2020, I paid 5.97 lb for this Rwanda from SM that is now 8.65. So a 44% increase. Just a data point for people that ask or curious.

I am tempted to get more of this.

I haven't gotten a good result from the Mexico Esmeralda yet (toasty/roasty) but I really enjoyed the Colombia Excelso EA that I got from Captain's Coffee in the same order. Nice and vibrant and really made some good espresso.

Good thing I saw this thread. Up until now only knew about swp decafs. Will have to look at ea decafs. Relatively close to Hacea so will be looking at their stock.

You mean this Colombian EA which is likely the same as the one jwmelvin mentions.

Please try it and let us know. Thanks.

My favorite decaf is Sea Hulia. I drink in the afternoon and evenings.
