I built a box unit with gas pipe & vent hood built in that I sit into an open window when roasting & remove afterwards. I've used the flex ducting for over 4 years now with no issues. It may not be as efficient as rigid ducting but for my use it's much more convenient.

Had a problem today with getting a tight seal between the 4" rigid duct and the Cormorant. I thought a hose clamp would be fine, but it bent both the duct and the exhaust rim on the Cormorant. Easy to unbend, but I've got more work to do for sure in order to get a good seal.

Maybe I need to prebend and form the pipe a bit? In any event, super fun project!

Bent from tightening the clamp? If so, you may want to use a gasket of some sort. I use self fusing silicone tape that cures over time. It stretches as well so that you can pull little for thinner coverage. Once it's on, I only need to put the clamp very lightly and it seals well.

I'd use a small furnace door seal or something similar. You want to be able to take the duct off in the future easily.

Thanks, will look for those! Was using a driver to tighten the hose clamp and didn't remember how thin the manifold outlet steel is. :)
