Saw this on my google feed. Anyone have thoughts on it?

Yeah, it was on my Google news feed, too!

It has a "Guru Mode," lol.

120g batch size is respectable. Only BT thermocouple? Only interval-sized steps for heat and air? Looks like a set-it-and-forget-it under-probed but cheaper Ikawa.

Functionality, size, price, all steps in the right direction, but I think my ideal small roaster is still 5 years away, sadly.

Anybody else think it looks like a percolator? Not sure how great it as at back-to-back roasting. But at the price, and the app functionality, they might have a place in the market. Hopefully, they do. Would love to see more similar products come to market.

Actually, this short review was what popped up in my Google news feed:
https://techcrunch.com/2020/07/15/beanb ... ee-lovers/

Looks like it's one day into its Kickstarter and it's 1/3 funded already, not bad.

After Alpha Dominche went belly up a few weeks before they were to suppose to ship The Flask, I won't back another kickstarter ever. Let people get the money the old fashioned way.

Seems like the ask was too small. They only need 15 backers to reach their goal. Makes no sense. What will they do if they only get 15 backers?

Well, now it's up to six backers.

Found their FB page (does Google not translate FB pages???):
https://www.facebook.com/beanbonTW/

FB page was created Dec 2019.

Do other countries have Kickstarter equivalents? Could they already have a Taiwanese market with pre-orders, and that's why they have a low Kickstarter goal? Part of their strategy also seems to be to sell greens with QR codes so you can unlock Guru Mode.

Is "I Brand"... Ikawa? Is it really > $3,300? And what does weight "UK" mean? That sounds like a lot

Apparently they already have the product made; or at least according to the article I read:

I really like the design. It looks like a well tought product. But I am not sure that I want to commit before I read more reviews.

With the Kaffelogic Nano 7 coming in the 110v market later this year it seems like home roasters will have access to higher quality products in the near future which is a good thing IMHO.

I've been looking for a fluid-bed that will take 120g-250g. I'd like lots of data gathering and ability to control via bluetooth, which it looks like it has. But looks like it might come in about $1000US after the kickstarter which seems pretty steep.. The Kaffelogic is close to same price and they are planning a 110v model soon.. Kaffelogic might be more mature. I hesitate to back anything brand new. 3 revisions in is always a sweet spot.. Apple Watch 3.. iPhone 3g.. Windows 3 (for those who remember Windows 1 & 2.. like me :) )..

I'm surprised how long it is taking for there to be some real competition for the iKawa .. I've got the SR800 which will do me for learning.. but you really need more data sensing, the ability to plot a roast curve on iOS/android, and to remotely control the fan&power.

hi

what about adding Artisan and hardware to your SR800? :)

that should help you achieve what you need in the meantime.

Cheers,
