The Eureka 50mm and 64mm burrs cannot be single dosed. If you fill the hopper, you can go down to a Turkish grind smooth as silk, and I really love using them that way, way more than Mazzers. If you single does, you can barely manage a coarse espresso grind and it takes forever. Mazzers on the otehr hand work OK. Being able to single dose with flat burr grinders is not a given; it depends critically on the intake section on the inner diameter of the burr.

Here is why I ask. I saw this on Clive Coffees pageanother_jim wrote:The Eureka 50mm and 64mm burrs cannot be single dosed. Since this is a "comments on Niche Zero review" thread, perhaps you can ask that question in one of the 1-2 threads about the Eureka Mignon grinder...? Just a thought.

Maybe fantastic respective to hopper grinders, but against a purpose-designed single doser?martianpc wrote:Here is why I ask. I saw this on Clive Coffees page

I think OP needs to decide if the choice is single dose v hopper or flat vs conical. There are clear winners to both of those questions.

Sigh ...martianpc wrote:Here is why I ask. I saw this on Clive Coffees page ...
Coffee vendor videos are espressoporn - baskets overstuffed with coarse grinds making pretty and pretty undrinkable shots. You can single dose by crushing beans with a frying pan on a cutting board and still make "espresso" like that.
If you spend money on a good espresso grinder, you should buy one that is able to make 12 - 14 gram doubles when used as you planned. Neither of the two Mignon's I've used long tern could do that single dosing, although both made really good shots with filled hoppers.
... But go ahead, buy it, and use it for single dosed espressoporn. I should have remembered the first rule of bulletin boards: never give advice to anyone who already knows what they want to do.

I appreciate the feedback Jim, and to be fair, I am actually leaning towards the Niche, I just love the look of the Mignon so much more and I already have one on order so I need to decide if I will even open it or just buy the Niche instead. I had been planning to buy the Mignon before learning about the Niche, so the "First rule" doesn't apply here, I am genuinely trying to learn about the Niche and I don't have your expertise so that is why I am asking. I currently single dose in a Sette 270 so I thought the Mignon might work well for it, apparently not. Sounds like a Niche would be better there.

I find the adjustment mechanism on the smaller eureka grinders imprecise and a pain. Especially compared to that of the niche .
