Citric and sulfamic or something like that, not sulfuric.

Yes, Sulfamic. I need glasses. So... the Dezcal needs heat to be effective?

Thanks!

Certainly worked a LOT better with heat. Never tried it cold except when it was warming up. I guess I'd say it's the wrong thing without heat, but as I said earlier, using the element for heat by powering one element off 120V seems to work fine.

Is the boiler removed from the machine?

If so, and the Dezcal doesn't defeat the black "scale", toss a healthy handful of stainless steel nuts in the boiler with some vinegar and shake it vigorously for a while. This an old resto trick I've used on motorcycle gas tanks many times. It may work on the boiler crud.

Thanks! The boiler is still attached to the machine but maybe I have to dismantle it.
