Oh yeah, take pictures and line everything you remove in the order you removed it so you can put it back in the right order. Some parts like the lever parts and springs can be hard to tell apart and put back in the right order.

Does this reference to replacing the valve gaskets mean that it's possible to just replace the rubber parts on the valves, or does it have to be the whole valves (the latter doesn't seem so hard, but replacing just the rubber would be a lot cheaper than doing the whole valves if the parts are available.

...I just had a closer look at the other link and can see that it's possible. I'll flip the rubber over this time and see if I can source some new gaskets/seals for the future

I'm retired and don't have a pension.

It's not worth the time and effort to replace the seals. It's possible to break the valve threads and then an afternoon job becomes a week drinking drip :|

Flipping seals is a universally bad idea :!: :!:

You're probably right.. I have two other machines so there's no rush and I enjoy tinkering...so this is not about the $50 for the new valves, more the fact I am not throwing out otherwise serviceable parts for the sake of a small bit of rubber ;-) That assumes I don't break them in the process!

I'm not sure if I'm missing something but I can't find a water probe. Where would that be?

Top of the boiler sticking out with a wire tab connected to it. Pulling the tab off activates the pump for a boiler fill, grounding the tab stops the pump/fill. Probe is screwed in and can be unscrewed when machine is off, cooled, zero pressure in the boiler, unplugged to check its condition/clean/replace.

Some other pictures while I am at it. It looks pretty clean, I haven't soaked anything yet.

Have got a few new parts, still waiting for others.
