Steam wand standby problem

Hello.
I have a problem with the steam wand on the Barista Express bes870: it can be turned on and heats up pretty fast. But whenever i put it on standby in order to position the wand in the jar, and then i turn it on again, it doesnt heat up instead it splashes water out of wand. This forces me to turn it off then just turn on wait till water is splashed away and then quickly position it in jar (without standbye between)-the result is milk splashing everywhere in the first seconds. Anyone has a fix/idea why this is happening?

Ehm, like with all steam wands, before using it to froth milk, you first bleed it into a cloth, right?
By doing so you will get rid of the condensate and also clean the tip, to prevent polluting your milk
Btw, welcome

Thanks Guido I do bleed it into the drip tray for a few seconds.
The problem though is that if I position it into the jar while its on, the milk will form bubbles and splash away.
My intention is to shut it off, position into jar and turn it on again, as it should be doing just fine. But its not...
