Hi all!
I recently got a brand-new Rocket Appartamento in December of last year. Recently, we noticed small changes in sounds when brewing and heating. However, it now does not generate any pressure at all. The pressure gauge on the front of the machine for steam pressure doesn't move, and no water comes of out the steam wand or hot water tap. We took the top off, and the vacuum relief valve does have a noticeable amount of steam being released from it, along with some water spurts. We drained the HX element and tried to drain the boiler. But no water is coming out of the hot water tap, so we don't know how to drain the boiler. Another recently oddity we noticed was it was kicking off the breaker associated with the GFI outlet being used for the machine. There also were a few times the steam pressure went over 1.5 bars in random occurrences. Any ideas on what to do? Thanks!

Update: We took of the vacuum relief valve, and nothing is wrong with it. When we took it off, we then realized no water was even going into the boiler. The water coming out of the grouphead was bypassing the boiler, and was being sourced directly from the reservoir.

Does your vaccum breaker hiss and release steam constantly? It should vent for a few seconds as the water in the boiler heats, and then seal off and stop making sound / releasing steam?

If it is venting constantly, it could be a bit of scale / worn O-ring preventing the valve from closing. A cleaning / replacement should sort you out.

Thanks for the response. I'll take it apart and see if there's any build-up inside it.

Contact the seller. If it's 4 months old, it's under warranty. Get it fixed, ASAP. If the retailer can't or doesn't want to challenge the warranty, it's up to them to look after you.

Unless you've voided the warranty, in which case, look through the many many Appartamento postings in these forums. Check your pressostat's wiring to narrow down the chances of the problem being pressostat contacts or powerboard relay's contacts... There's plenty of info on the subject.

If you have the skinny grey and black wires to the pressostat, then your Appartamento is wired the way in which this thread's conclusion went:

If yours has the 16 gauge pressostat wires, then the pressostat's own micro switch might just be burning out.
Get it fixed while it's still under warranty, if the retailer will do so.
