Profitec Pro 700 first use problem.
Hi folks,
My Profitec pro 700/flo control was just recently delivered and straight out of the box I can't get it to work. I'm using the reservoir and not plumbed in. This is my third espresso machine, so not a newbie per se, obviously no expert either.....
Problem: - Boilers won't fill.
Bottom selector valve turned to "tank", and switch under drip tray turned to "tank".
After filling the tank and on first power up, I got the "fil" message on the PID and followed the instructions in the manual however the water in the tank wasn't going down, after a couple of mins the machine shut down. I turned it off, realizing the boilers weren't filling and waited for it to cool down before troubleshooting the magnet (which is behaving as it should) tried to reseat the tank numerous times to try to purge potential airlock (no luck) checked each selector switch just in the off chance they might be reverse wired (all fine)......Pump runs, pid indicates temps, no orange light, and no more "fil" on the PID when I try once again to see if it will fill. Any insight would be great! I so don't want to have to pack this thing up again and ship it back.........ugh.........

Don't know anything about your machine, but it looks like it has a vibe pump. If so, maybe the check valve in the outlet end of the pump is stuck in the seated/closed position, so even though the pump is running, it's not able to move water.
Thanks for the reply and input.......It's a rotary pump, not a vibe......
The 700 is a rotary pump, they can get airlocks . The lack of orange light usually means the steam boiler is turned off (right hand switch behind drip tray)
As for it not pumping, i usually set it to plumbed , and connect the plumb in braided hoseline to the connection, and the mains pressure will usually clear the airlock when you turn it on, then switch back to tank . Or you can try a large syringe fitted to the plumb in fitting with silicon hose, and manually force water into the line . Good luck

Pull out the tank. Check the magnet in the tank is moving freely and then put the tank back in and check that the tank itself is fully seated.
Thanks for that great advice.....going to give that a try (the plumbed in connection and then back to the tank).....as for the steam boiler.....well, initially they were both on for a while and heating up before I realized what was happening. Good thing is these newer models have circuitry that will shut the machine down before screwing the heating elements.....and that's what occurred......thanks again....going to give that a shot!!
Kitt!........You are the man! As soon as I connected the braided hoseline to the connection and then switched back to tank, it worked like a charm! Machine now fully operational.........thanks again for that great info!!kitt wrote:The 700 is a rotary pump, they can get airlocks .
