I'was a very happy owner of a profitec pro 600 until i had to change the gicar box for the second time in 17 months of ownership
The total coast until now is about 400 euros.
Am I the only one complaining about the bad quality of this box ?
I tried to check if there is any way to repair it by my self but there's no diagrams on the gicarsrl website.

What are the issues with your controller that requires replacing?

They are not always easily repaired, I have tried as well. It might help to have your machine plugged into a power bar, appropriately sized, that has 'surge protection' that will protect sensitive electronics from power line electrical surges and spikes that can be harmful to sensitive digital electronics.

That's a great point on surge protector, although with Rocket Appartamento & Gicar control board same issue also arise all the time.
Some can get 4 full years + without issue on Gicar, and some had Gicar going bad every few months.

On those threads, most are due to pressostat 'sacrificing' Control Board circuit anytime it cycles (which is every ~20sec or so), and no wonder it goes bad so quickly.

Some get creative and rewire the pressostat in a way that it will sacrifice itself instead.

Check if your wiring is sacrificing itself or the Gicar control board.

It may be worth contacting James/Pat Boyt as suggested in GICAR Repair. I've read nothing but good things about his service.

For my machine it's the same problem two times now. The Gicar stops controlling the solenoid and the pumps keeps running all the time.
First time it was stuck open so no water to the brew boiler, second time it's stuck closed and no water to the steam boiler.

FWIW: The Profitec Pro 600 has each element switched by separate (not paired) Solid State relays.

The only switched loads directly switched by the Gicar are Pump, Boiler-fill solenoid and the little 12V transformer that powers the PID controller. It would be very odd for these to be failing due to the destruction of one of the Gicar's internal relays, but anything's possible. What were the symptoms of the failed Gicar box? Boiler-fill issues? No power to the PID Controller (I sort of suspect the transformer of being the most likely thing to be over-loading the circuitry of the Gicar). Or it could be power surges killing innocent electronics, and not inherently the Gicar's fault.

This might be a particularly useful suggestion if you would ask Boyt if they have created a mod based on repeated PID repairs for this model PID that might prevent the same electrical event from causing the same defect.
