I recently got a simonelli musica and I am having a problem with excess steam coming from the group head whenever I activate the group. Any suggestions?

Water is boiling. Suggestion to lower the boiler temperature.

Done that. Lowered pressure stat down to 1 bar and it's still happening

It's an HX machine. You have to manage the temperature manually. This is done through flushing in a home setting.

See, for example, Managing the Brew Temperature of HX Espresso Machines

The "hot" video shows a really long delay before water flows, which reminds me of a thermosyphon stall. I don't know the specific hydraulics of the Musica, but I'd look for slow leaks (e.g., OPV, group solenoid).

I know about flushing but it seem a 15 second flush is pretty excessive to me.

A couple of options to check;

1 - no return valve in the brew circuit, maybe causing HX to drain

2 - Small restrictor just after the pump, i had one of these once and it was partially blocked causing similar symptoms to this. From memory the restrictor is in a small brass fitting

Is your preinfusion on?

I had the same issue many years ago and the solution for me was to change the pressurestat to Sirai. Others reported different outcome but I neved had the same issue after.
