La Spaziale Vivaldi S1 Rebuild
Hi Folks,
I'm relatively new to the forum and am loving the depth of knowledge available here. Hopeing to avail of your collective wisdom and maybe even contribute eventually.
As of last weekend, I am the proud owner of a new-to-me Vivaldi S1, 2005 vintage.
When I got it home I pulled the panels to give it a once-over and clean down, and then things got a little out of hand....
I'm looking for a little help rebuilding it.
I sourced the La Spaziale documents but they leave a lot to the imagination, so I wondered if anyone has a rebuild post that includes some photos, in particular of the wiring.
Thanks for the help
James

Section 6 of the Chris Coffee Vivaldi II manual lays out the wiring diagram completely.

Is there anything specific you want a photo of? I'll be tearing apart a Vivaldi some time around the end of this week.

Thanks - yes, I came across this manual too. It's pretty detailed, and should be a good help.JRising wrote:Section 6 of the Chris Coffee Vivaldi II manual lays out the wiring diagram completely.

If you happen to have a machine open, a few photos would be very helpful. I hadn't intended to do a full tear-down so wasn't careful enough to photograph the routing for all of the wiring and water hoses.
In terms of general advice - It seems that this machine has been serviced before - judging by the color of the brass, it has replacement thermostats and maybe over-pressure-valves. Are there any parts that are worth replacing preventatively, just as part of periodic maintenance? While I have it apart..
Thanks for the help!
PS: I guess I should also 'fess up... that's a cup of tea in the background of my teardown photo above.

A little update:
I was too impatient to wait for an OEM gasket to arrive by mail so I bought some gasket material from the local Grainger and cut one.
It's a cellulose nitrile 1/16 inch rated to 400F and 1000psi. Has anyone gone this route - does this sound/look about right? Any advice?
I've managed to rebuild most of the hardware, but none of the electronics yet.
A few details I couldn't find anywhere:
- should i use PTFE tape on the water joints? Or just tighten them "dry"
- is there a torque spec for the boiler head bolts? I used 10 Nm, but that was based on nothing other than what "felt" right...
Any thoughts/comments much appreciated.
Cheers,
James

You're probably done already, last week has gone by. But if it might be any help at all, here's some shots.
I hope you're already enjoying your finished machine.
