That doesn't look right to me, there should be locating pins for the lower section of the case to slide onto, maybe it has moved in transit? was it shipped? It may just be a case of loosening the rear screws and sliding it forward onto the locating pins, and re-tighten the back screws. But it depends how much you want to mess with a new machine vs the hassle of returning....

Mine has a very tiny gap. Nothing I've noticed till I just looked. Maybe a mm or two.

ProbSolver - it looks like your red panel is dented and the paint was damaged a bit right on the seam. Is that right, or is it just the lighting throwing me off?
EDIT: it also looks like the threads on that screw are stripped, seems like that panel was forced backward by impact.
