I'm trying to replace the steam boiler heating element gasket/seal (left side). How do I disconnect the 2 wires attached to it? It is heat shrink wrapped so do I need to cut it open?

Indeed you do.
There are small nuts securing the ring terminals on the wires to the element posts. Once the heat shrink is cut, you can loosen the bolts.
Cheers!

Thanks! I assume it'll need to be rewrapped afterwards? Is there's a specific type of heat shrink to use here? The the material feels thicker/tougher than typical heat shrinks.

True Value sells short lengths in packages in various weights.
Be careful if you don't have a heat gun. A hair dryer on low could work, but may be too hot if you get too close.
