If your Profitec Pro 700 is noisy and plumbed in...

My machine was making noise, the more flow (open flow control on top of the group or machine was filling the steam boiler - more noise than when brewing) the more noise. I learnt today (from the Profitec help line in Germany) that there is a metal mesh filter right behind the fitting that connects to the braided water hose.
Remove the hose from that fitting. Remove this fitting (it looks like a reducer) and behind it you find the small mesh filter. (no need to mess with the rotating 90 degree fitting!)

I suggest doing this when having a new mesh filter in hand. I tried my best with descaler and a brush, but it is very fine and 7 y old, so I am sure a new one would be better.

The machine is quieter now. If I open the flow control on the group (extra add on I added) too much, the flow to the pump is not sufficient and it gets noisier again but I do not need this kind of flow. Will source a new mesh filter though which might get rid of the problem

Those mesh filters can cause issues, and if plumbed in with a good sediment filter, shouldn't really be needed. It is available in Australia as a spare part;

Thanks Kitt, good point, I run a proper BWT filter so probably I should remove the mesh disc. Been putting up with a noisy machine for AGES. Thanks for the link.

Great info! My machine was lough enough to wake me up when the pump started to fill the boiler in the morning. I just checked my filter and it was caked with crud (even though I have a filter/ softener setup). Removing the mesh filter made an immediate difference, I will order a replacement and install it when I receive it.

I would think removing the mesh filter instead of replacing it with a new one might be risky, since your machine developed the noise problem because the mesh got clogged up...meaning that whatever filtration system you may have had, gunk was somehow passing through the supply line to the machine.

Nick is saying what I am thinking...
If it's plumbed with a good sediment filter, there never would have been an issue with the little mesh filter.
