If you can visit Dr Espresso in London I strongly recommend it. I happened to travel to London and accidentally was just down the street from Dr Espresso. It became a home away from home.

There must be a good amount of exposed brass on the bottom of that portafilter. If it was me, I would either get it rechromed or convert it to bottomless and look for a new Nuova Simonelli.
Beautiful restoration! Very entertaining too!

There is. I didn't know that would be a bad thing? I haven't been able to use it yet as the diameter of the only filter basket that fits is just slightly smaller than my tamper. I will be looking for a Nuova Simonelli portafilter soon.LObin wrote:There must be a good amount of exposed brass on the bottom of that portafilter. How did you treat these "brass" parts? I have an Elektra gold 60s that uses what seems to be a varnish like overcoat on brass. It is a delicate finish and was damaged from citric acid wash overspray. Is this what was used for your machine brass parts or was it a plating?

If you want a brass finish like that, I'd guess someone who repairs brass band instruments would know how to get it done.
