I see videos on youtube of people soaking the grouphead, the boiler (sometimes), the boiler plate, the lever etc in liquid for cleaning. I'm assuming they are not using descaling solution as I understand it would damage the chrome. Therefore what is a safe way to soak those parts in order to clean them?

Is warm soap and water ok for the chrome exterior and copper interior of the boiler?
