Hi all,
My pre-2005 MCAL has developed a boiler leak, which occurs whether the machine is on or off. I disassembled the base from the boiler and changed the gasket (which didn't look bad) but the problem is still recurring. Any advice or direction to take from this point would be wonderful.

Can you post of picture where the leak occurs. I have heard of MCaL boiler leaks on the older units. Leaks on these boilers occur when chlorinated water was used causing pitting.
Between order and chaos there is espresso.
Semper discens.

It comes out from the bottom, under the base. Because of the design, I can't tell where the exact leak is coming from. I assumed that the gasket attaching the heating element to the boiler was the culprit.

On the pre 05
the normal places to look at:
you will have three gaskets (well actually o-rings)
that could potentially leak,
the heating element terminals (two)
and the flange one,
then not to over look the pressurestat pipe fitting,
apart from the HE terminals ones and the pstat pipe that can be viewed just by removing the abs base
the flange one will be guessed and visible once the metal base is removed.
