The group mushroom is brass (lead free) not copper, the salmon pink colour is because of using descaler to clean it. You are overthinking this whole thing, clean off the loose chrome, put it back and forget about it. Nothings going to corrode the brass and nothing in the brass will be harmful to you.

Hi there

I have taken back the two mushroom and that's how they look now:



Basically they have removed both the chromium plating and the copper plating and it's now just the brass.

Maybe in the future I'll buy 2 new mushrooms (as the cost 25 euro each)..but not now!

New ones will do the same thing. That is normal, most of those internal parts loose their chrome over time. It does not impact the performance of the machine in any way.
