Converting a European 240v espresso machine to US 110v, what do I need to know - Page 2

well, I understand everyone's hesitation and I take no offense, I'm not an electrician or coffee machine repair expert, but I know enough to not get zapped and I have fun learning how this things work and tinkering around them, that's mainly why I bought this machine, the goal is not to be pulling shots asap, but to restore it and enjoy the process. A few years ago I also had no idea what was inside an espresso machine, and thanks to the info in forums like this I was able to replace the burst heating element in and old machine and fix all the leaks and it's still going strong to this day, so I'm sure by the end of this project I will have some new knowledge and then I'll be baffled at the questions I asked here.

For now it sounds like the next step will be to open this box and locate the transformer to see if it's something that I can replace, I'll give that a try and I might be back with more questions :lol:

You may need to evaluate the wiring (at least some of it) because switching to 110v may double the current running through the wires.

oh yes, thanks for pointing that out, some of the terminal sleeves are a bit decayed and I was gonna replace them, so good time to go over the wires as well. As for the level control box, some good news, it appears the transformer can be easily swapped, and there's also a couple relays rated at 10A and 8A, I'm assuming I should replace these two for at least 15A.
If I'm not missing anything, everything I listed should cover the conversion to 110V and I estimate it should run under $250 for parts which I'm okay with if it means not having a clunky transformer in my counter. I'm gonna first focus on rebuilding the E61 group and cleaning any scale in the boiler system, if I'm satisfied with the outcome and how the machine works I will attempt the conversion, for now I'll leave a couple pics from the control box in case they can help anyone in the future, thanks again for the help!
