I was able to take a video of the steam boiler while replacing a pressure valve. How does the scale look?

Doesn't look like there is any scale.

Oh yeah? Thank God if not. I've been getting some type of sandy particulate in my cup when using the steam boiler for Americanos. I was sure it must be scale.

If you have stuff in your steam I'd start by pulling the steam wand, taking it apart and cleaning it out. Even if there was scale, it's heavy and steam comes off the top of the boiler so I'd look at everything between the boiler and the steam tip. Maybe there's some scale there, but certainly not enough I'd worry about it, but hopefully someone else with more experience will help.

I see little or no scale at all.

Looks more like corrosion to me, but not bad for seven years old. The pitting visible on the element might be the source of your sandy particulate.
