Hi HB Team,

I have been getting 520 Error code when trying to open posts. It was not consistent, and I have been seeing it for the past 3 days or so. Returning to previous page and retrying to open the post usually resolved the issue.

Me too. If I hit refresh, it clears it and goes to the correct page of HB.

This seems to happen from time-to-time (last time was October 2020 in Generic 520 errors); Cloudflare doesn't provide much information and invariably the HB server logs are clean. I'll try restarting the web server, maybe that will help.

UPDATED to add:

Here's how to collect relevant data from Troubleshooting Cloudflare 5XX errors, with modifications:
If 520 errors continue after contacting your hosting provider or site administrator, provide the following information to Cloudflare Support:
  • Full URL(s) of the resource requested when the error occurred
  • Cloudflare cf-ray from the 520 error message
  • Output from /cdn-cgi/trace
  • Two HAR files: one with Cloudflare enabled on your website, and the other with Cloudflare temporarily disabled.
The last one about HAR files is extra credit; it captures what's shown in the browser.

It seems to be relatively common on my iPhone, and "never" on my desktop.

Started happening all the time on my iOS devices the last few days.

It only seems to happen when trying to open topics or post/edit replies to topics.

This morning, for the first time (in addition to occurring via iOS), Error 520 arrived via OS X (11.5.2).

I haven't seen it, but it may be browser specific. If you see this error, please post the URL that failed and copy/paste the user agent by clicking here. It will look something like this:
Browser is Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_15_7) AppleWebKit/605.1.15 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/14.1.2 Safari/605.1.15
Mobile: false
Tablet: false
Capability: A
Ad blocker: false
Do not track: false
Accept: text/html,application/xhtml+xml,application/xml;q=0.9,*/*;q=0.8
This ^^ is a desktop with Safari.

Getting oodles of Cloudflare 520's this morning.
I'll go make a cup of coffee, and when I come back, it'll probably be gone. In the meanwhile:
Browser is Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 14_7_1 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/605.1.15 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/14.1.2 Mobile/15E148 Safari/604.1
Mobile: true
Tablet: false
Capability: A
Ad blocker: false
Do not track: false
Accept: text/html,application/xhtml+xml,application/xml;q=0.9,*/*;q=0.8

Is there any particular URL(s) that has "oodles of errors"? For reference, here's my user agent on an iPhone:
