Inspired by Top 5 Coffee Roasters I thought it would be nice to have that type of data (not necessarily "Top 5") on our profiles (displayed next to posts).

This serves two purposes:
1. We could more spontaneously find new roasters that match our preferences. Sure, we already have threads like the above, but this would make more people passively participate.
2. When reading posts about equipment/technique, knowing what type of beans/coffee the poster is aiming for is important context. At least knowing fav. roasters would help a little, as it suggests a bit about the preferences.

As we already list equipment, listing roasters seems very natural :)

I just pick a coffee I like and list it in my profile under "Interests" (at right). I update it every so often.

It sounds like a good idea, but maybe it should be "Favorite coffees" since "Favorite roasters" would exclude homeroasters (or they'd list "me" ).

OK, added... you can change it in your user profile.

I was actually seeing listing "me" as positive :) Not only is it fun to see who does, but when I started roasting I did a lot wrong following recommendations for styles different from my preferred. Had I seen "me, <roaster different from my taste>" I could more easily have filtered the relevant directions.

I'm curious to see how people will add information :)

I ended up with quite broad information, as I know I will forget to update often.

As I said, it will be interesting to see how others interpret the format!
