BBcode - tables, [pre], [code] colours visual information

I noticed some BBcode tags don't work.

Presenting information visually can make it easier to process.

For instance, if I want to compare several things, a table or matrix would be efficient.

I found that table, [pre] (preformatted text) codes don't seem to work

I found that

 works as a workaround to capture spacing but defaults to a hard-to-read green font that I don't know how to change
 
Is this a policy issue? Are there some visual options other than using a photo of a table?

There is no [pre] tag defined in phpBB. The code tag works:

Column A   Column B   Column C
--------   --------   --------
   1          2          3
   4          5          6

The green isn't hard to read on my display, but changing it to black is easy. Work for you?
