A massive forest fire that started Monday, March 9th, above the farm on the Atitlan Volcan is currently decimating large portions of land and there is grave concern that the path of the fire will reach and destroy significant parts of the coffee farm itself.





Family owned for four generations, Finca San Jerónimo Miramar is a stunning and ecologically diverse farm with a large, uncultivated parcel of the land protected as a private nature reserve. They also operate a dairy, producing a variety of cheeses and creams on-site.

Those who have traveled with Nossa Familia on our origin trips have visited this extraordinary, biodiverse farm, and can attest to the hospitality of the owners and the people who live and work in the area first-hand. This is a truly special place.



More than 300 people working for the farm, other nearby farms, and communities will all be affected by the fire.

Chicago-based Dark Matter Coffee has started a GoFundMe campaign asking for immediate emergency relief so that as much as possible of the farm and the surrounding wildlife can be saved. All funds will be given to Asociacion de Reservas Naturales Privadas to combat the fire.

Nossa Familia Coffee will be donating 25% of our cafe sales from 3/12-3/14.

I sure hope those families and farms are minimally affected!
