Scott Rao and I are planning to be on a (small part of) EU tour for two weeks from July 4 to 18, taking trains from Amsterdam to Basel to Vienna.
We'll be giving a two hour presentation in 9 cafes in each city. Each session which will be focussed on tasting the local roasters bean's (as made on a Decent Espresso Machine) as well as tasting espresso made from Rao's own Prodigal Coffee Roasters.
If you're on our route, we'd love to have you attend. I'll be posting dates, times and locations as these firm up.
At the moment, we're looking for any "hidden gems" of friendly cafe/roasters along the way. If you know of one, please let me know via a comment below, or a DM.
Current stops are: Amsterdam -> Utrecht -> Cologne -> Frankfurt -> Heidelberg -> Basel -> Zurich -> Munich -> Vienna

New video: deep dive into portafilters tips and tricks
Paul and John tell you everything you ever wanted to know about espresso portafilters. We explain every aspect of this part, as well as answering advanced questions in a Q&A section with our audience, at the end of the video.
Questions such as "should I leave the portafilter locked into the machine?" and "how much headspace should I have?" are answered. Decent now lets you make your own portafilter by combining whatever head and handle you like. https://decentespresso.com/portafilter

New short video: how to remove a portafilter basket
A short video I made 4 years ago inexplicably got 80 thousand views, so I thought I'd re-shoot it, using our nice new video studio. Basically the same content, just prettier.
This little extract is part of the larger "deep dive into portafilters" video just released today.

Hi, Will DHL shipping be available to the UK again any time soon please? I can only see options for UPS which is much more expensive (by about £300+) thanks.

We automatically use whatever is cheapest that day. Given you mention GBP £, I assume you're in the UK, and yes UPS rates have been going up rather dramatically.Veeb wrote:Hi, Will DHL shipping be available to the UK again any time soon please? I have good news for you, though: in the next few days we'll have significantly lower UPS rates, as we've negotiated new contracts with both of them, and the price is coming down a lot (by about half). More news shortly.
EDIT: our UK rates are set to change massively under this new UPS contract:
That's from my test-server (new vs old pricing), as my accounting staff are double checking my work and this'll go live in a day or two.
I have to program to a new API to fetch these rates, which is what is causing this to not be instantly released. We're bypassing our shipping aggregator rates, and working direct with UPS to get these.
