User Experience with the Strietman CT2 - Page 14

Has anybody tried a weber blind tumbler with their strietman? I like that the opening is 49mm so I would hopefully avoid a funnel.

Robeambro, you will not regret it! I thoroughly enjoy my CT2. The end product it produces, the beauty of it, and the ergonomics of it!
Thank you! It's going to be a long wait, as I can't take delivery for a while. I've already read the 70 pages of the CT1 thread, the dozen pages here, pretty much every single video on YT, the review on Lever Mag, spoke to a couple owners personally.. Now I don't know what to do for three months!

Yes it works but sucks as the 49mm rim is very wide and leaves a 5mm rim pretty deep around the whole filter basket. Better to buy the blind shaker as that thing works great. You just need the OE Ipanema funnel to make it fit for 58mm. That way the blind tumbler should also work much better.Chrikelnel wrote:Has anybody tried a weber blind tumbler with their strietman? Edit, just checked there website and they seem to have improved it from the first version. I still like the shaker much more.
I think the workflow would put me off drinking coffee, if I'm completely honest. One of the main reasons why I've picked the Strietman is the easy workflow, fast warmup, and (near) lack of maintenance required in comparison with other machines. The Flair would not quite have as effortless of a workflow and warmupLaddu wrote:In the meanwhile you can buy a flair pro and enjoy an introductory tool to manual levers.

Hey,
I am a recent owner, and if I had bought Strietman as my first machine, I probably wouldn't buy any other later, which I did. I am not the kind of a person to sell or resell (too complicated for me) machines so I have a bit of a problem with collecting machines, as it seems. I bought Bianca last year and I am extremely happy with it. But eventually I came to it, that CT2 is the right one for me. And man, I was surprised when I made my first shot. Works perfectly! If I had to sell all the machines that I have and leave just one, CT2 would definitely be my choice.
I only wish that in the near future Wouter offers another basket, 21 g. I was actually surprised how sufficient 18 g is and delivers a great shot, strong enough and with enough body. So I am not unhappy with 18 g, but since I prefer stronger coffee it would be great to have a 21g basket. OK, right, I can shorten a shot, but I don't like to, I like those 40-ish grams.
As for the funnel, I made one from yoghurt cup
it fits perfectly and the walls are the thinest possible. In my opinion, it would be better that the original tamper is 49.8 mm rather then 49.5 mm, but I've solved that with another small DIY intervention.
Is waiting time for Strietman now three months, or perhaps it's a personal issue? Either way it's not that bad, I am waiting now for a new grinder for that long (or even longer).
Buy Strietman, you won't regret it!
And, oh yeah... to Wouter, come on, man, send some roasted coffee with the order for future buyers, it won't cost you much, but it's a nice gesture to show that you care!
Cheers!

Thank you for your message, 007.
I also owned a Bianca which I loved and hated. Loved, because of the lovely espresso it makes. Hated because I just don't 'need' it.
I needed something smaller, quick, simpler, without compromising on espresso quality. The only 'downside' to the CT2 is the price..
I don't see myself changing it, unless maybe in the future the Odyssey OE-1 has an established track record.
I am happy that your only 'complaint' is about the lack of a larger basket, as one of the perks for me would be to reduce my doses to some extent. Means more shots in a day!
The collection in September is a personal requirement of mine - nothing to do with lead time, which is marked as three weeks on the website (whether this is accurate or not, I don't know). I am hoping to be able to meet with Wouter. Seeing the genius behind it might make the purchase all the more special.

This is the perfect way to buy one of these.robeambro wrote:i am hoping to be able to meet with Wouter. Seeing the genius behind it might make the purchase all the more special.
As for basket size, I use the large strietman basket with a bplus sintered stainless screen.
