It's 120mm from drip tray to top of the bottomless portafilter on my Londinium R - the current LR24 and Compressa external measurements are the same, so I'd assume it will be same for Compressa too.

My drip tray is always dry, so you could think of chopping some material off or not using the grate at all, which would give another 45mm or so.

Well I just couldn't resist my affection for the izzo, ordered one from ccs. Those guys have always treated me well over the past decade. It ended up being a little more than the Pro 800, but I really like the group.

I decided not to worry about the clearance, and then saw a thread that shows how easy it is to mod the tray. I think it will be a non issue

Astoria Gloria: 145mm tray->group, without portafilter.

Edith: Ah, there was the desision done already. Classically lattes are like this, so any clearance is ok.
