Wow... Very nice... As Richard has already said,"Well thought out and very clean looking." As a work in progress please keep us posted. You have went beyond anything I would attempt on my own... Anything dealing with electrical or electronics...not for me!

Brain just got into gear..
Have you considered the idea of pressurizing the machine through a "Tee" off another port..pressurestat , Safety blowoff valve?? That would give you an un-encumbered boiler cap. Attach a longer shaft to it for the knob. By the way, there may be parts available through Bob Craig for a cap, or here
Cheers
Richard

Yes Richard I did consider that. The downside of doing it is that it involves "getting into" another part of the machine and therefore making the project somewhat more complicated. I already have to manufacture the boiler extender fitting and it would be a small thing to provide a threaded hole in the side of the new part that will accept the check valve threads. Thanks for your input! Much appreciated indeed!

Perhaps Richard was refering to something that was done on this thread.

I love it. Very slick. That solution would work great for me too however I just ordered the new boiler cap from Switzerland today which means that I'll be using the old cap to make the new fitting. I may do it your way at some point for other reasons like making more room upstairs for a second PID to control a heater for the group.

I'm glad that my obsession is confined to just one machine. :D

I am constantly amazed at the lengths true enthusiasts go to in caring for and "improving" their loved machines. I've went back through some of the restoration and customization projects on this site and... Wow!
