A long long time ago, I theorized that it should be possible to run a big boilered machine without plumbing in, by removing the vacuum breaker and using the vacuum to let the boiler fill itself.

I recently acquired an old red label Faemina and wanted to use a bottomless portafilter for ease of use. I have several different machines and checked if anything would fit. Turns out a bottomless portafilter (from edesia) for a Saeco Aroma (53mm) fits pretty good!

I've been adjusting the water debit / flow rate (without a portafilter in) on my Pro 800, getting better success reducing it from the 80ml/sec I had initially, but very curious what other users have theirs set at?

I made myself a pressure gauge to fit my steam wand to confirm and adjust my pressure stat that I presumed was low.
The PO of my machine told me I'd have to lube the seal periodically to prevent it...
