I don't think I have the expertise to do that. What I did do is punch a hole just above the existing window. When at full pressure and you can see the level through the round hole you add water. When the level is at the bottom of the round hole the boiler is just under half full...

Unfortunately, I punched through from the wrong side so I had to use a Dremel to clean the edges.

That also works.
