Its funny, but I seriously doubt that espresso has ever surpassed that Faema (or any good lever machine for that matter). I'm sure one can fiddle endlessly with varying pressure profiles and temperature control, and bring out certain nuances from certain coffees at certain times. But the simple act of pulling the lever, waiting ten seconds, and releasing it...with the more or less assured results of an incredible espresso...that somehow captures the essence of espresso...and life itself...
