All this open boiler business has me wondering about my Ponte Vecchio - I've got the pstat set at 0.8 bars - at sea level this means my internal pressure should be 1.8 bars??? By my calculations water boils at ~240 F at 1.8 bars. Does this sound correct? Is my brew temperature really this high?

Pres. Temp
1.0 212.0 Sea Level (the ocean is about 50 m from my office window)
1.1 216.3
1.2 222.4
1.4 228.0
1.5 233.0
1.7 237.8
1.8 242.3 My brew pressure = 0.8 (pstat) + 1.0 (sealevel) = 1.8????
1.9 246.4
2.1 250.3

No wonder I burn my tongue occasionally!

Peace,

PC

Yes. This saturated steam table calculator confirms your figures. The brew water is cooling down a lot between boiler and grouphead!
