Little news on this except that La Pavoni has a new home \ pro-sumer lever machine in the works called "Esperto".
Maybe displayed during Host Milano Oct20-24th. More news to follow.

Because it means "expert"?crazy4espresso wrote:I'm not sure why LP would try to use the Esperto name for a new prosumer machine.

Weren't they also trying to use the "Giotto" name, which generally refers to machines from another manufacturer?

IIRC the Pavoni Giotto resembled the ECM Giotto to a great degree, like it were rebadged.

I am seeing the Esperto on the La Pavoni FaceBook forum. Here is an Instagram photo linked from the La Pavoni company site. There are similarities to the Stradivari, with what looks like a cast lever fork, a sightglass manometer and a pressure gauge on the piston rod. The filter basket is deeper, with capacity up to 20 gm. The front badge lights up when the heating element is activated. There is a green power light on the left top of the base just behind the drip tray. I don't see a group thermometer or other discussion of build quality changes, other than the fancy wooden boiler cap and handles.

Notice the lever handle! The fork that attaches to the group seems to be built properly. It is not just a piece of bent bar stock with holes drilled in it.
There seems to be some sort of object under the gauge on the piston rod on the images. Perhaps there is a system to release the air trapped above the puck, this would permit running the boiler temperature much lower and avoiding spongy pulls.
