The original Idrocompresso was built on a Mirage 2 group chassis.FotonDrv wrote:I suspected that was one reason they discontinued it since it was in a previous iteration of the Idrocompresso.
They must not have thought it worth it to ballast the rear of the machine.
LMWDP 267
The spring/lever release on shot completion or error is wonderful. I wonder how they accomplish that?

Each group on the idrocompresso has 2 solenoid valves (group brew and relief valves), after your release the pin on top of the lever the group valve closes and no water will flow into the group. When you engage the relief/flush handle during the shot the remaining water in the group will be sent to the machine drain.

after watching videos on the LM Leva i feel that this KVDW is more intuitive. i would love to see a shootout between both machines side by side with two baristas that knew what they were doing.beer&mathematics wrote:So nice-would be in my home even as a double group if I had the space and funds. The innovations in the group are super interesting. Wonder how it compares to the LM Leva (which I know nothing about)
That Light at the End of the Tunnel is actually a train
With something like this, it would be worth affixing to a countertop.FotonDrv wrote:I suspected that was one reason they discontinued it since it was in a previous iteration of the Idrocompresso.

I suppose if I win lotto or something, I'd find a way to that 2-group configuration. Though it would be quite a leap from my $15 thrift ViaVenezia lol
very sweet!!
the only blemish is that the entire machine is moving and flexing when pulling the lever.
that was the case with the gen1 Idrocompresso as well.i noticed that immediately when Blue Bottle introduced theirs at the Ferry Building location in SF years ago.
reinforcing the frame and/or bolting to the counter?

Really.I worked at an Idro 15 years ago and that thing was sturdy as a Sherman tank.

Flex on the KvdW Idro? I have the current version of the machine on my kitchen counter and it is a tank, and there is zero flex even when pulling both levers at the same time!
perhaps you have an updated version, but i have one of the earliest ones and it definitely flexes the chassis when each lever is pulled.
i cannot pull both levers at the same time or the machine will tilt. coincidentally it's not ideal to run 2 simultaneous preinfusions as the water supply at the group heads becomes inconsistent, so tipping the machine over is never an issue for me
