I learned just today that this community has lost one of our foremost contributors.
Robert was a retired chemistry professor from Girard, KS and was most active within this forum, so I post his obituary here.

I will think of him often, mostly during my morning lattes.

Saddened to hear this.
Robert was a very generous and kind hearted contributor with a positive demeanor in his responses.
He was always willing to share his knowledge and lend a virtual hand to members.
I will miss him although we never met but exchanged many a word on threads to my benefit.
Condolences to his family and friends.
Between order and chaos there is espresso.

I'm deeply saddened to read this. He and I had many conversations over the years. He contributed a great wealth of knowledge to this forum.

Damn, I'm going to miss his posts, and him by extension.

This is really shocking and saddening. It felt like he was just here posting not too long ago. He will be missed sorely. :( I've always enjoyed his contribution and his generosity in sharing his wealth of knowledge on this forum.

I knew of Robert's trip to Alabama to visit with friends and work on microscopes, another of his hobbies, and Robert didn't do anything half way. I was starting to wonder about the lack of private correspondence he would frequently send. I miss him and appreciate that is passing was sudden, not from a long illness. He certainly left a mark in our community. His posts are first-rate reference material that he left as a legacy. RIP Robert, and buon caffe!
