Help me identify this Hungarian Lever machine
any info on it would be much appreciated :)

Bought this machine

around 30 kilo

Width 60cm
Depth 40cm
Height without lever 40cm,with lever 65cm
Basket (only one) 46mm with rolled edges

Portafilter inside ca. 47,5mm

the grouphead(s) has the same dimensions as Sama/ponte Vecchio (moves 18 up down), but are much higher ,and the lever mechanism is different (moves 22mm

its has a fitting for water inlet , but can be used with just the boiler
the water inlet seams as it could be used to empty the boiler

the driptray also has a fitting for a hose

:D it seams that the baskets for Sama Ponte Vecchio fits nicely +they are much deeper than the original (if they are original

the levers stays down when the piston is up (its suposed to do)

the pressure is regulated via a weight+ a switch

i Did drive 1100 km to pick up this beauty  + a combi of a brewmatic coffe brewer and a carimali espresso uno d i think + a grinder that has 64mm burrs ,,ohh i did also watch some nice fireworks in Hannover on the trip ;o)

so excuse me , its been a long day so now i will get some sleep

No no don't sleep, take it apart. We want photos of the insides. :)

What is the square black handle on the side used for?
I will assume the water inlet is just a handy way for filling the boiler..

It's comforting to know that that machine now resides just over the Kattegat. Keep us updated when it starts pouring espresso.

Well the good news are that it seems to use standard seals they are 7mm high and for a 39,5 to 40mm bore it seems
the stroke of the piston is 23 mm

The Sama lusso/export only have stroke of 18mm and a smaller bore (39)

If the Sama /ponte Vechio , can give 15ml

then the Hungarian should give 19,66, due to bigger cylinder and stroke

meybe even more if its runs at a higher pressure than the Sama /ponte Vechio

my hope is that i can get a shoot weight of 32 grams, but right now that seems optimistic

the springs are not fully compressed at the up stroke
that means i can ad a spacer and get more pressure if i would like
could be interesting to have two identical groups , but with different pressure profile

That is a rad-looking group. It will be interesting to see how it works, I've adapted well to using multiple pulls with the Sama group, but often wondered why they did not make it longer. Keep us updated,

It is called Star II.
I also have one of these but with a different chassis design:

You can use the Sama/PV baskets for it.

:D you have the bling bling model
i have not yet played with my machine

can you tell us how much you get in one pull (in grams )
do you use the stock baskets ,,ca 46mm but not very deep
or do you use Ponte Vechio baskets ,,45mm but deep ??

At which pressure do you run yours ??

have you tested how high the brew pressure is ?

have you tested how hiot the brewwater is when it is in the group ?

How do you like it ?? do you have something to compare it against ??

oh howe about spareparts ??

Hi, I did see this machine in the Advert a few months ago, and did sent the picture to a Friend who's business-name is Kafko and he is the Espressomachine-doctor for many espresso enthusiast in the Netherlands, it was nice to see the Kafco, its the same pronouncement in Dutch. :)
