One of the reasons or justifications for using a pulse pump over a rotary pump other than initial cost is the pulse pump is more tolerant of high temperatures and in actuality the overall cycle efficiency would be improved by heating the feedwater before injection into the boiler. It is interesting that conventional wisdom is to keep the water reservoir cool. Must be a historical justification for it though.
